As you have seen from my previous posts, I make two types of T-Shirt Quilts. A Block Style and a Collage Style. This week I will talk about the collage style quilt and what types of shirts are good for this style.

As you can see from the picture, there are blocks in all different sizes. All though are either square or rectangle and all are in proportion to each other. I have rulers that allow me to choose the size of the block that will best fit each t-shirt.
While putting all the pieces together, I work it like a jigsaw puzzle and make it uniform in size on width and length and also balance the size of blocks and colors. At the very end, I put a 2" border around it to bring it all together.
This type of quilt is great for shirts that may have a small logo on the front and a large one on the back, if there are vertical graphics you want to use, different sizes of shirts, or horizontal graphics. The very minimum that I would use for this type of quilt is 20-29 sides of a shirt (remember each side counts as 1 if you are using both front and back!).
No two layouts are the same and it is fun to see how all the pieces come together! We will compare this with the block style t-shirt quilt next time!
